Age-Related Macular Degeneration
Risk & Treatment
You may be at a higher risk of developing AMD if you have a family history of the disease, eat a high fat diet, smoke, have high blood pressure or are overweight. There are 2 main types of AMD, commonly referred to as dry and wet.
The treatment options differ for these and our team will explain your options so you can make an informed decision. Dark leafy greens, yellow fruits and vegetables, fish, and a balanced, nutrient-rich diet have been shown beneficial for people with AMD. Eye vitamins (Areds 2 ) may also be recommended by your doctor.
