Annual Eye Health
Annual comprehensive eye health exams are a crucial component of maintaining good eye health. In addition to checking your prescription, your doctor will examine your eyes for signs of eye disease. Unlike general doctor vision screenings, yearly visits to your eye doctor offer a more complete understanding of your overall eye health.
Maintaining Good Eye Health
What to Expect
Annual eye exams typically take about 45 to 60 minutes. During the exam the technician and doctor will review your medical history and check items including visual acuity, pupils, eye movement, side vision, correction for glasses (refraction), eye pressure and the health of the front and back of your eye. You will be dilated at these appointments so the provider can get a complete look at your eye health.
Your eye health is connected to your overall health as some systemic illnesses can be detected through an eye exam. Abnormalities seen in the eye may signal changes in other parts of the body.
